This UV-resistant, breathable non-woven tape helps prevent dust, dirt and insects from entering the sheet channels while allowing ventilation and condensation drainage. The split release liner makes the tape easier to position and apply evenly along the sheet edge.

Where Should Breather Tape Be Installed?

For a typical sloping twinwall polycarbonate roof:

• Use aluminium foil sealing tape on the upper end of the sheet to create a sealed barrier.

• Use breathable anti-dust tape on the lower end so ventilation and condensation drainage can occur.

Do not use breather tape as a substitute for fully sealed foil tape at the top of a sloping roof sheet.

Always follow the installation instructions supplied with your particular polycarbonate roofing system.

Installation Instructions

1. Check the sheet orientation: Identify the upper and lower ends of the polycarbonate sheet.

2. Prepare the surface: Remove dust, moisture, oil and protective-film residue from the sheet edge.

3. Allow the sheet to dry: The surface must be clean and completely dry before applying the tape.

4. Position the tape: Centre the tape over the open flutes.

5. Remove the split backing: Peel away the release liner gradually while pressing the tape into position.

6. Press firmly: Apply even pressure along the complete edge to ensure good adhesion.

7. Trim neatly: Cut off excess tape with scissors or a utility knife.

8. Fit the end closure: Install the appropriate aluminium or polycarbonate end closure over the taped edge where required by the roofing system.

Avoid stretching the tape during installation. Do not block any required drainage or ventilation openings.

Why Is Polycarbonate Breather Tape Important?

Leaving the sheet flutes completely open can allow insects, dirt and debris to enter. Once contamination is inside the channels, it can be very difficult or impossible to remove.

Sealing both ends with impermeable tape can also trap condensation inside the sheet.

Using foil sealing tape at the upper end and breathable anti-dust tape at the lower end provides a more effective balance between protection, ventilation and moisture drainage.
